Holden has increased the appeal of its popular four-cylinder Astra with the introduction of a stylish three door hatch. At $18,990 (rrp), the Astra City three door manual is the lowest-priced model in the range.

The sporty Astra three door hatch delivers all the European good looks, high feature levels, safety technology, responsive performance and advanced chassis dynamics that make the Astra sedan and five door hatch the most sought-after cars in their class.

"Astra is currently the top-selling car in its segment, and the availability of a very well-priced three door hatch is sure to raise its popularity rating even higher," said Michael King, Holden's Marketing Manager, Small and Medium cars. "Now that it's even easier to own the car that sets the benchmark for its class, we can expect Astra sales to continue at record-breaking levels," he said.

The Astra three door is powered by an advanced 1.8 litre DOHC ECOTEC 4 cylinder engine, linked to 5-speed close ratio manual transmission or 4-speed automatic electronic control transmission. The high-tech, low emissions engine features 'drive by wire' electronic throttle control for enhanced driveability.

Included in Astra's comprehensive range of standard comfort, convenience and safety features are power steering, six-speaker sound system, a multi-function display with time, date and outside temperature settings, driver and front passenger airbags and front seat belt pre-tensioners.

The Astra three door is available in five exterior paint finishes: Casablanca White; Premium Blue*; Polarsea Blue*; Midnight Black*; Star Silver*.
