Responding to strong buyer demand, Holden has introduced stylish 2001 editions of its value-added, limited build Commodore Equipe sedans and wagons as well as a new Holden by Design Commodore Equipe model.

The distinctive and well-specified Commodore Equipe offers more than $3,500 worth of comfort, convenience and individual styling items. It is based on the VX Commodore Executive ECOTEC V6 automatic, and the value-added 'extras' complement an already extensive standard equipment listing which includes ABS (anti-lock braking), CD player and steering wheel sound controls.

Available in a choice of five paint finishes, Commodore Equipe sedans and wagons have unique, five-spoke 15 inch alloy wheels, body-coloured side mouldings with a chrome insert, a chrome exhaust extension and special Equipe badging. The wagon also comes complete with a tailored roof rack. In the passenger compartment, there is exclusive seat and door trim fabric. Air conditioning, four power windows, cruise control and a CD audio system with tape player are included as standard.

John Elsworth, Holden's Marketing Manager, Large Cars, says the Commodore Equipe will appeal to buyers who appreciate its exclusive nature and the solid value-for-money proposition it represents.

"Although we anticipate very high demand for the 2001 Commodore Equipe, production has been restricted to 5,000 units. Many of Holden customers have come to realise, special edition models such as this are a smart buy, not simply because of their individual looks, or because they come loaded with extras, but for the fact that they maintain their value and perform very well indeed when it comes to resale," he said.

"On top of all that, the Equipe comes complete with all the highlights - great all-round performance, driveability and advanced safety technology - that make Commodore Australia's number one selling car," John Elsworth concluded.

A limited number of Holden By Design Commodore Equipe sedans will also be produced. These 200 examples will be further distinguished by eight-spoke, 17-inch alloy wheels, a front spoiler, side and rear skirts and a Type 2 sports wing at the rear.

Commodore Equipe exterior paint finishes are: Genesis (dark navy blue metallic); Heron (solid white); Shanghai Red (brilliant, highly chromatic solid red); Grey Storm (smoky grey with blue highlights) and Tungsten (olive grey metallic).

The Commodore Equipe is now on sale at Holden dealerships nationally.
